Looking back over the years, we started with mobile phones practically the size of bricks, then mobile phones became more portable, lighter, and smaller. With smartphones, they started to get larger, and the future is in the hands of the consumer. With quad-core cellphones being released next year, consumers must answer the question: what do I use this device for? The phone is no longer just for talking, the computer is no longer just for word processing and the Internet, and now we have iPad 2’s and Kindle Fires to figure out what to do with them.
With the release of Mac OSX Lion, and Windows 8 coming soon, the computer is becoming more like tablets and mobile devices, and tablets and mobile devices are becoming more like computers. This means the consumer must decide the purpose of each of their devices, and which one fits them best.
It will certainly be an interesting year, and I look forward to seeing what will happen.
